Common questions
Don’t delete anything yet. Put the site in maintenance mode, change every credential (WordPress users, hosting panel, SFTP and database), check other sites on the same hosting account, and take a full backup of the infected site as a forensic record. Then find the entry point, usually an outdated plugin or theme or a compromised admin account, before you clean. Follow the 10 steps in order.
Most cleanups finish within 24 to 48 hours, and Mineweb starts the same day on active infections, responding within 2 business hours. Standard removal and hardening starts at $299. Database injections, multiple backdoors or a partial rebuild get quoted after a diagnostic, and you see the number before work starts. The work also covers tracing how the attacker got in and closing that entry point. See our malware removal service.
Updates, strong logins, a firewall and tested backups. Keep plugins and themes current and delete the ones you don’t use. Use long unique passwords, two-factor authentication and login rate limiting. Add a web application firewall, such as Cloudflare at the DNS layer and Wordfence inside WordPress. Keep daily offsite backups and restore one now and then. Hiding the WordPress version or renaming wp-admin does very little. Read the full security guide.
Clean the site completely, then ask Google to review it. In Search Console, open Security Issues and request a review once the site is verifiably clean. Google says a review can take from a few days to a few weeks, and traffic doesn’t fully recover until the warning is gone. As part of a malware cleanup, Mineweb submits the site for review to Google and the other blacklists. See the full recovery sequence.
