Common questions
Back up first, then run the update on a staging copy before it reaches the live site. Plugin conflicts after updates are uncommon but do happen, and the staging copy is where you want them to show up. Check checkout, forms and layout there, then push the same updates live. Wordfence and Patchstack can alert you when a plugin you run has a new vulnerability. Our maintenance checklist lists the other recurring tasks.
Restore one. Each week, confirm the last backup finished with the timestamp and file size you expect, because backups can fail silently or fill up their storage. Once a quarter, restore the latest backup to a staging site and click through it. A backup you have never restored is a guess, and finding a broken one during a test beats finding it in an emergency. See our backup and recovery service.
Form tests, user account reviews and renewal dates. Submit every contact form monthly, because a plugin update can break delivery while the form still looks fine. Each quarter, remove admin accounts for former staff and contractors and make sure the rest use 2FA. Once a year, check SSL, domain and hosting renewal dates, and confirm your registrar email still works so expiry warnings reach you. Our maintenance plans start at $99/month.
